Before you paste

Not every letter has a tiny version. Superscript uses look-alikes for a few letters, and subscript covers only some, so the rest stay normal size. Check the result before you paste, and keep important text at normal size.

Small Text: common questions

What is the difference between small caps, superscript and subscript?

Small caps are capital-shaped letters at lowercase height, so they read as a full alphabet. Superscript letters sit raised and tiny, and subscript letters sit lowered and tiny. Those two are mostly for footnote marks, exponents and formulas.

Why are some letters not small in my subscript text?

Unicode has lowered versions of only some letters, so the others stay normal size. The digits are complete, which is why subscript works well for formulas such as H₂O.

Can I write a whole sentence in tiny letters?

You can, but it is hard to read, and a few superscript letters are look-alikes. Small caps are the better choice for a line of text. Save tiny letters for short notes and marks.

Will small text show on every phone?

Small caps and superscript digits show on practically every modern device. A few of the rarer small letters can appear as empty boxes on very old phones, so check an important post on a second device.

Is this a tiny text generator or a small caps generator?

It is both. Small caps keep a full alphabet at lowercase height, while superscript and subscript give you tiny text. People also call this a tiny text generator, little text generator, smallcap generator or small font maker. The styles are the same, and you can copy and paste any of them.
