Creepy Text: common questions

What is glitch text?

Glitch text, often called Zalgo text, stacks combining marks above and below each letter so the text looks corrupted. Every mark is its own character, so a short word can count as many characters.

Why does glitch text get cut off or overlap other lines?

Combining marks are drawn outside the line box. Some apps clip them, strip them or let them spill into the lines above and below, so preview the text in the app before you post it.

What is Old English or gothic text?

It is blackletter, written here with the Fraktur letters from Unicode's Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. Both a regular and a bold version are listed.

Can I use creepy text in gaming or Discord names?

Many display names and nicknames accept it, but account usernames usually do not. Where a name field limits combining marks, glitch text can be rejected or trimmed.

What is weird text or crazy text?

Weird text swaps normal letters for look-alikes from other alphabets and symbols, so a word like dark can look odd but stay guessable. It is the same idea as a crazy text maker or a weird font generator. Some apps show those letters as empty boxes, so test an important name first.

Is this a cursed text or scary text generator?

Yes. Glitch (Zalgo) text is what most people mean by cursed text, and the Old English, gothic and spooky frame styles cover scary text. Pick a style, copy it and paste it into a name, bio or caption. Glitch text stacks many marks, so test it in the app where you post.

Can I use these fonts for Halloween?

Yes. Halloween fonts are usually gothic, glitch or spooky-frame styles, and all three are here. Try Old English for a title, glitch for one cursed word, or the Spooky frames choice with a skull, ghost or witchy frame around a name. Goth fonts such as Old English and Bold Gothic also work well in captions and display names.
